Wisconsin Dells

We'll folks, it's official.  We survived our first family vacation.  We spent a week in the Wisconsin Dells in late April.  Overall we had a sucessful trip with only a few bumps a long the way.  One recommendation, don't put a 2 year old and a 7 month old in the same hotel room and expect them to go to bed easily.

We spent most of our time at the hotel swimming.  Olivia had the place pretty much to herself, being that it was off season.  By the end of the week she was jumping into the pool and going down the slide herself.  You could even catch her going face first when the life guard wasn't looking.  Yes, my little dare devil got yelled at for doing that!

We also spent some time shopping, eating at the local restaurants and even visiting a brewery that Scott's college roommate opened.

It was definitely a vacation to remember.  Olivia is already asking when we are going on vacation again.  Hopefully she can talk dad into going to the beach next.

My Little Lobster

Someday he will thank me for this hat.  Okay, probably not.  But I thought it was too cute to pass up.

All of that sun and excitement wore him out.  He was too tired to drop his bottle before falling asleep.

Sunday Funday

I finally participated in a Sunday Funday.  However, it doesn’t mean what it used to in college.   Once the rain finally decided to stop we moved outside to plant some flowers.  Olivia thought it was mighty fun to dig in the dirt.  She even found a wiggle worm to play with for a whole 30 seconds.  Once she looked at mom and saw her face she promptly threw it down and screamed yucky!

  

When we were done planting flowers Emmie came over to play.  The girls received some pointers from Papa in hopes to improve their softball skills and golf game.  At least they are both using the right end of the bat to hit the ball now.  They may need some extra attention in the future.

After they were finished with the sports they moved on to hunting for bitsy spiders (hunks of dad’s grass) only to whack them with the golf club.  Those spiders didn’t stand a chance.

After a few hours of outdoor fun Emmie went home and we had to wrestle Olivia inside to take a nap.  Finn finally decided to join the fun; he slept the entire time Emmie was over.  After Olivia fell asleep he was indulged in some Mommy-Daddy alone time.  Something he rarely gets. 

To finish out the day we packed the kids into the bike carrier and rode down to the local ice cream parlor.  The whole way there Olivia was screaming “this is fun”.  The kids enjoyed their ice cream, even Finn!  I think he liked mom’s better.



Finn - 6 Months Old

Finn just had his 6 month check up, yes, I realize he is already seven months old, going on 8.  We’ve had some issues with reoccurring ear infections so his appointments have been jumbled around.  I really should be receiving frequent flier miles for as often as we go to the doctor, or maybe just a front row parking spot.

Finn, at 6 (or 7) months old you:

*Weigh 17.3 lbs (25%) and are 26 inches tall (25%)

*Wear size 12 month clothes and a size 3 diaper.

*Think your sister is the bee’s knees!  You giggle at everything that she does, often times egging her on to do something even naughtier than she is already doing.

*Are army crawling all over the house.  Your favorite thing to go after is the remote control – typical male behavior!  You will worm yourself all around the living room chasing where ever we put it.

*Can get yourself on your hands and knees and rock back and forth.  You will be crawling shortly.

*Love going outside to watch your sister play.  Often times you find yourself in the line of fire, those darn squirt guns! 

*Are a great eater, you are eating us out of house and home.  Again, typical male.  You love your orange food -  carrots and sweat potatoes.  You are not so fond of the greens.  I guess you do take after your mamma.

*you are developing such a fun personality.  We love your belly laughs, they make even the worst days some of the best days!

Playtime Antics

Gamma always says that you can relate a two year olds behavior to how they will act when they are teenagers.  If she is even close to being correct we are in for it.  Or should I say dad will have his hands full.

As we were playing outside today I didn't know whether I should grab my camera or grab the two year old who had ripped off her shirt and was running down the street half naked.  All while screaming with laughter and yelling "chase me mom".

I decided to go after the two year old so I don't have a picture.  Too bad!

Easter in Wisconsin

We spent Easter in Wisconsin this year.  The weekend was filled with lots of food, good times with family and a trip to Grandpa Richard's farm for Olivia.

Olivia made sure she was in the spot light the majority of the time.  I'm sure this surprises no one.  She insisted in singing all the songs she knew one after the other.  After each song we did have to stop to give her a round of applause while she jumped up and down and screamed "YAH".

The Easter Bunny paid a visit Sunday morning, leaving Easter baskets for the kids.  Olivia's was filled with pool toys, squirt guns, a stuffed cat, and chocolate of course.  Olivia's favorite item was the squirt gun.  That little girl has good aim!
